Bulgarian robotics team compete with the best in the world

After winning the semi-finals in Poland, the KASAPIN40 team continued on the finals in Germany on 13-14th January 2012. In Poland the Bulgarians met over 160 students from 18 European teams. At the finals KASAPIN40 competed with another 25 teams and became 4th in the final rating. This gave them the chance to participate in the Open European Championship from 6th to 9th June in Mannheim, Germany. The best teams from the finals from all over the world took part in the championship. In the spirit of FIRST LEGO League, 67 teams from 36 countries around the world competed with their robots.

The Bulgarian team did a great job in all four categories – technical interview, robot-game, team work and research project. Although they didn’t win an award, the students from the National High School of Mathematics and their coaches from SAP Labs Bulgaria, got the chance to meet different cultures and customs, they presented Bulgaria with bunch of geranium and a folklore dance. Loaded with positive energy, they are eager to participate next year again.

For the third time in a row, the international organisers invited Bulgarian representatives in the jury. Kiril Mitov and Ekaterina Anachkova from School of Robotics “Robopartans” took active part in the evaluation of the teams in the categories Technical Interview and Research Project.

After coming back home, they started the preparation for the next season of FIRST LEGO League. The local tournament will take place on 24th November at Inter Expo Center. The aim of the organisers this year is at least 15 teams to take part in the competition.
